Roundtrip exchanges the following<br>types of information with a transportation company over this API:</p>\n<ul>\n<li><p><strong>Ride assignment</strong> - when a ride is awarded to the transportation company, Roundtrip sends<br>  the full ride record to the company's system, including the patient, the locations, the<br>  payer, and the service requirements.</p>\n</li>\n<li><p><strong>Ride progress</strong> - as the ride is performed, the transportation company reports status back<br>  to Roundtrip, so that the booking facility can see progress without contacting the company.</p>\n</li>\n<li><p><strong>Schedule changes</strong> - the transportation company can revise the expected pickup time, and<br>  Roundtrip notifies the company when details of the ride change.</p>\n</li>\n<li><p><strong>Release</strong> - a transportation company that can no longer perform a ride it has been awarded<br>  can return that ride to Roundtrip, so that it can be offered elsewhere.</p>\n</li>\n</ul>\n<p>This API covers rides that have already been awarded to a transportation company. Reviewing<br>offers, submitting ETAs for consideration, and declining offers continue to take place in the<br>Roundtrip portal.</p>\n<h2 id=\"conventions\">Conventions</h2>\n<ul>\n<li><p><strong>Send</strong> <strong><code>Accept: application/json</code>****.</strong> A request that does not ask for JSON is rejected with<br>  a 406 and an empty body.</p>\n</li>\n<li><p><strong>Request bodies are wrapped.</strong> Every POST body carries a single root key, for example<br>  <code>release</code>, <code>ride_eta</code>, or <code>status_event</code>. A body sent without its root key is rejected with<br>  a 400, whose body carries an <code>error</code> key containing a single message.</p>\n</li>\n<li><p><strong>Response bodies carry a single root key.</strong> Calls that return a ride return it under the<br>  <code>ride</code> key. Other failures return an <code>errors</code> key containing an array of messages.</p>\n</li>\n<li><p><strong>Timestamps are ISO-8601 with a UTC offset</strong>, for example <code>2025-08-11T12:41:00Z</code>. Dates that<br>  carry no time, such as <code>service_date</code>, are formatted <code>YYYY-MM-DD</code>.</p>\n</li>\n<li><p><strong>Measurements carry their unit.</strong> Distance, duration, height, and weight are objects with<br>  <code>unit</code> and <code>value</code> keys.</p>\n</li>\n<li><p><strong>Closed vocabularies are published.</strong> Values such as statuses, release reasons, and vehicle<br>  categories are returned by the Get Vocabularies call.</p>\n</li>\n</ul>\n<h2 id=\"409-versus-422\">409 versus 422</h2>\n<p>A 409 indicates that the request was well formed but the ride is not in a state where it<br>applies, such as releasing a ride the company does not hold. Repeating the call unchanged will<br>produce the same result; re-read the ride first.
